Saint-Barth - Festival langues arts & cultures

Nearly 400 children on the quays for the Languages, Arts and Cultures Festival

The opening of the 2025 edition of the Languages, Arts, and Cultures Festival will take place this Monday, May 12th, on the Quai du Général de Gaulle in Saint Barthélemy, as part of the Transat Paprec Arrival Village. The event is expected to bring together nearly 400 students from schools in Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin. For this fourth edition, the children will gather around the following theme: "In the ocean of diversity, every drop counts." This annual event aims to highlight the cultural and linguistic richness that makes the two islands so beautiful. It also provides a platform for all schools in Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin to present their projects and initiatives that highlight the diversity of languages, arts, and cultures. It also represents an opportunity for students, teachers, and communities to come together and share their cultural riches. The Saint-Martin delegation will be greeted with music upon disembarking the ferry by students from the Gustavia school group and the Mireille Choisy middle school. They will all travel together to the Transat Arrival Village, where speeches will be given by the "officials." On stage, the students will sing the Saint-Barth anthem and then the Saint-Martin anthem. This will be followed by songs and costumed dances, all on a series of themes related to the sea and its biodiversity. A perfect introduction to the opening of the forum for education for sustainable development. Students from the Marine Educational Area (grades 5 and 6 in Gustavia) will host a booth with the Territorial Environment Agency (ATE). After a lunch break at the school cafeteria, the primary and secondary school students will participate in a series of activities. But first, they will have the privilege of meeting Transat Paprec skippers, including the representative of Saint-Barth, Cindy Brin. The Saint-Barth Yacht Club will offer activities in Gustavia Bay and Public Bay, while the island's fishermen will have a booth in the Village. Exhibits carefully curated by students from both islands will be unveiled, and workshops will be held on various themes. The National Sea Rescue Society (SNSM) boat, the Captain Danet, will also be on hand for some activities. For safety reasons, the event will not be open to the public.
