A reassuring race for the two Cap Saint-Barth skippers. With less than 17 days to go before the start of the Transat Paprec, Cindy Brin and Thomas André took third place on the podium in the Solo Guy Cotten race, held from March 22 to 29. During the event, 38 Figaros were moored in the port of Concarneau. Many of the 31 single-handed entrants in this French Elite Championship event will be lining up at the start of the Transat Paprec on April 20. Cindy and Thomas, for their part, have decided to take part in this double-handed race. We did pretty well," enthuses the Breton. We finished third, with two big names up front. "In second place on the podium was a skipper they know well: Éric Péron, accompanied by Paul Morvan. Top of the leaderboard were Jules Delpech and Edouard Golbery. "We kept up with them throughout the race," says Thomas André. "We were even ahead at times," adds Cindy.

Better communication
In spite of a 15-minute penalty for crossing a no-sailing zone, the Cap Saint-Barth duo came third out of seven entrants. Behind them in the rankings were three crews who will also be taking part in the Transat Paprec. "It's pretty reassuring to know that we're finishing ahead of them, at least we're not going to finish last," smiles Thomas André. Of the race's four events, the most eagerly awaited was the 48-hour offshore race, which involved two nights at sea. A first for Cindy: "The most complicated part was waking up - I was freezing! But you get used to it. "During this race, the two skippers were able to put into practice their weeks of training, and note the points to be improved with a view to the Transat Paprec. In terms of cohabitation and speed in relation to the others, it was pretty good," says Cindy. As for communication, I think there's still room for improvement. "They only have ten days left to fine-tune all that.
