The event is popular among members of the Saint-Barth Tennis Club because it strikes the perfect balance between competitive spirit and warm camaraderie. The weekend tournament, which began on May 1, concluded on Saturday, June 13, with three finals played: one in women’s singles and two in men’s singles.
In the women’s competition, Perrine Rousson defeated Maëlle Servanton in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) without breaking a sweat. The runner-up had taken the lead in the second set, but “Pépé” managed to regain the upper hand and clinch the victory.
On the men’s side, in a draw featuring players ranked from 30/3 to 15/2, it was the youngest and highest-ranked player who came out on top. Facing an injured David Ripoche (15/3), Alexandre Vanderhove (15/2) claimed the trophy in two sets (6-1, 6-4).
In the men’s draw for unranked players through 30/4, Gabriel Itriago claimed his first title by defeating Guillaume Blanchard in the final (7-5, 6-3).
“Congratulations to all the participants for their dedication, sportsmanship, and the quality of the matches played throughout the tournament,” commented the SBTC, which also thanked the fans and everyone who contributed to the tournament’s success.
