A new design for a new action. On Saturday, October 25, the Lions Club will be at the Super U store from 10am to around 4pm to raise funds. The association will be selling pocket ashtrays for 5 euros to help finance its activities, such as blood donation, the organization of Christmas at the Ehpad, local aid, particularly for the disabled...
"We had already launched this type of action in 2018," recalls Ghyslaine Chapuy (Lylou), president of the Saint-Barthélemy branch. But this time, the design of the ashtray is different! "The little pouch has been replaced by a round "cachou"-style box. "It's more practical to put in a bag or pocket," says Lylou Chapuy.
This sale of ashtrays comes just a few weeks after the Clean-up, whose results - 2.9 tonnes of waste collected - were alarming. Cigarette butts, in particular, are a veritable scourge. Every year, "around 4,500 billion cigarette butts are thrown into nature worldwide", according to the NGO Surfrider Foundation.
An eyewear collection is also taking place on October 25. You can drop off children's and adult sunglasses and sunglasses cases. A second "ashtray action" will be organized by the Lions Club on Saturday December 6 at the Oasis.
