Secularism is based on three principles set out on the website of the French Ministry of the Interior: freedom of conscience, from which derives the right to manifest one's convictions within the limits of respect for public order, the separation of public institutions from religious organizations and, finally, the equality of all before the law, whatever their beliefs or convictions. With this important clarification: "Secularism is not one opinion among others, but the freedom to hold one. It is not a belief, but the principle that authorizes them all, subject to respect for public order. "Next Monday, December 9, pupils from the Mireille Choisy middle school and schoolchildren from the Gustavia public school group will be celebrating the principles of secularism through a series of events.cité through a series of events they have organized with the help of the school's secular referent, Leïla Nazzal, and their teachers.
For this very special day, all students and members of the school community will be wearing a blue, white or red T-shirt and, if possible, a stocking in these colors too. Last year, a citizens' march was organized by students, the teaching community (including the academy's vice-rector), the préfet délégué des Iles du Nord and several elected members of the Collectivité territoriale rallied from the Hôtel de la Collectivité to the courtyard of the Collège Mireille Choisy. This will not be the case this Monday, December 9. On the other hand, the day's program includes many other activities.
From the laying of the tricolor flag in front of the school gate to listening to the unforgettable rendition of La Marseillaise at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games bylyric artist Axelle Saint-Cirel, decorating the secular tree, displaying the charter and the ministerial campaign, as well as words and phrases evoking the main principles of secularism, the day promises to be packed. All the more so as many other actions are planned.
The showcasing of students' work in writing and drawing competitions, the exhibition of digitized works from the Academic Greeting Card Competitionux competition, the production of a micro-trottoir by Ulis students in and around the school, not to mention games organized in the Documentation and Information Center (CDI).
Jain's song Makeba et tambour will be performed by the choir during recess, just before the prize-giving ceremony for the drawing, poetic writing and eloquence competitions. What's more, a photo of the word "laïcité" (secularism) formed by students from ten classes across the school will be taken by drone.
A fine display of awareness and pedagogy.
