The Gustavia School District Parents' Association is seeking greater visibility

A breath of fresh air is sweeping through the Parents’ Association of the Gustavia School District. The former board, which had been in place for seven years, has been replaced by a new team. The transition went smoothly, as explained by the new president, Tiphaine Lacombe, who took over from Marine Legendre. “There are some changes this year, but we have the support of the former board, which is a real blessing,” Tiphaine says with a smile. “A lot of work has been done over the past seven years. We’ll need active members to help us—with communication, organizing events, and coming up with ideas…”
The main goal is to raise the Amicale’s profile, primarily through initiatives that will be carried out throughout the school year. “The association’s mission is to support the faculty’s projects,” explains the president. “There are about twenty projects a year. These range from purchasing small supplies for classrooms to organizing field trips for students.” This support involves applying for grants from the local government as well as raising donations. Although, as Tiphaine laments, “there has been a sharp decline in donations from parents over the past few years .” She notes: “Perhaps this is due to a lack of visibility regarding the association’s role and activities. But without donations and grants, we can’t do much.”
A yard sale, a karaoke night, a musical run… The Amicale plans to organize a series of events in the coming months to raise funds. Always with the same goal in mind: to help set up projects for the schoolchildren of Gustavia.
