Who said that today’s children are no longer capable of thinking for themselves without the help of a machine? Certainly not the parents of the eight students from the Gustavia school district who will be competing in the academic finals of the mental math championship on June 9. Two girls (Mélissa Courage Escax and Maya Maurel) and six boys (Akhil Zebiri Titeca Beauport, Valentin Magras Hoareau, Enzo Nicot, Killian Chikhaoui, Arthur de Corlieu, and Léon Cochand dal Gobbo) will put their thinking skills to the test next Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The final will be broadcast on Saint Martin, in Guadeloupe, and in Saint Barthélemy. The finalists from each island will compete at the same time but in different locations. The students from Saint Barth will therefore be in a familiar setting, at their school, as they strive to claim victory.
