"A life-changing experience! "For the past few days, a delegation from the Saint-Barthélemy Apprentice Training Center has been on an educational trip to Malaga, Spain. This is part of the Erasmus+ program, which offers students the chance to go on an "international mobility" trip to discover other cultures, but also and above all to "learn differently and push back their limits".
The group comprises eleven apprentices (six girls and five boys) and two supervisors: Claudine Molliex, the educational coordinator, and Joy Berlemont, a teacher. The apprentices are in their second, first and final year of Bac Pro. They follow a variety of training courses: electricity, carpentry, reception, pastry-making, mechanics and childcare.
The two-week trip will focus on eco-responsibility and sustainable development. The aim of the trip is threefold. To discover how local businesses are integrating ecology into their practices, and to set up and present a project, since each participant will have to propose a concrete idea or improvement for his or her business in the region.lioration for their company in Saint-Barth in line with what they have discovered in Spain and, finally, in parallel with this work, to discover Andalusia. The program includes a number of visits, including a day in Granada.
On Tuesday April 22, the delegation visited La Rosaleda, a vocational training school that caters for... 2,500 young people! As Joy Berlemont explains, "It was a huge experience for them. They were able to talk with them, and we visited a number of technical workshops in electricity, carpentry and catering. "
To ensure that the stay had a playful, albeit still educational, aspect, the group of apprentices took part in a treasure hunt in Malaga's historic center. They had to solve 22 riddles with one objective: to take a photo in front of the monuments to validate their research. Unsurprisingly, the Saint-Barth students were delighted with the activity.
Yesterday, Wednesday April 23, the delegation visited a car wreck to see how waste is treated and recycled. An Andalusian experience which, from one discovery to the next, should not fail to open the minds of the happy apprentices to other professional horizons.
