Scanning pens for students

On Wednesday, September 2, the Territorial Collectivity presented text-to-speech pens to the principals of the island’s schools (the elementary schools in Gustavia, Colombier, and Lorient, and the Mireille Choisy Middle School). These tools make it easier for students—particularly those with specific learning disabilities—to read and understand instructions, while also promoting greater independence. Territorial Council members Cécile Rubino Tessier, in charge of social affairs, and Bettina Cointre met with the school principals to personally deliver the equipment. This donation from the local government stems from several months of work by the steering committee on disability, led in particular by Aurélie Garrigues, Cécile Rubino Tessier, and Bettina Cointre.
