Saint-Barth -

Les écoliers de CM1-CM2 du groupe scolaire de Gustavia ont brillé lors du 34e Rallye mathématiques de l’académie de Guadeloupe.

Rewards for the little mathematicians

Schoolchildren from Saint-Barthélemy who took part in the 34th edition of the math rally were awarded academic prizes. On Thursday July 3, a ceremony was held on the terrace of the Hôtel de la Collectivité Territoriale to officially congratulate the performances of the island's young representatives in the competition. In the presence of the Vice-Rector, Harry Christophe, and the President of the Collectivité, Xavier Lédée, the CM1-CM2 schoolchildren were honored. Starting with Elouan Paul Teyras (11 years, CM2), Raphaël Chirouze (10 years, CM2) and Ethan Vallet (10 years, CM2), who won the event in their category (cycle 3 schools, CM1-CM2). The other four Saint-Barthélemy teams were also strong contenders. Paul Benazzouz Caron, Jules Coullet and Julot Rama Pignet finished 12th, while Mylan Dubourg, Gabriel Pereira Teixeira and Mahé Lévèque finished 32nd. Mina Gurewitch, Maily Sau and Nesta Raymond took 44th place, just ahead of Ernesto Gherzouli and Marcela Salas in 48th place. The latter schoolgirl's performance was praised by her teacher at the Gustavia school group, Nathalie Galou, who pointed out that Marcela (a CM1 pupil) arrived in her class last November as an allophone. This means that the little girl's mother tongue is not French. "By the end of the year, she's beginning to master the French language," insists her teacher with admiration. A special mention for Marcela Salas, therefore. But the success of all the representatives of the Gustavia school group deserves to be noted, for their abilities have made the island of Saint-Barthélemy shine within the academy.
