The tenth edition of Olympic and Paralympic Week kicked off on Monday, following the Milan-Cortina Winter Games. “This is a key moment to build on the legacy of the Paris 2024 Games by encouraging young people to engage in daily physical and sports activities,” states the website handicap.gouv.fr. To mark this event, held every spring “to promote sports participation and raise awareness among young people, as well as the educational and sports communities, of the sporting and civic values embodied by the Olympic and Paralympic movements, such as courage, determination, teamwork, and respect,” the Regional Olympic and Sports Committee (CTOS) has been organizing activities at Mireille Choisy Middle School since Tuesday, March 31.
The middle school students gathered around a new Olympic discipline: breakdancing. The students started off a bit timidly during the first session. Naturally, the teenagers felt more at ease during the subsequent activities. The workshops are accompanied by educational sessions on the latest Olympic and Paralympic Games, featuring quizzes, games, dances, and sports activities.
This Thursday, April 2, in the presence of Pascal Peuchot, Secretary General of the CTOS of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, middle school students will be invited to participate in hip-hop, chess, karate, and other disciplines between noon and 2 p.m.
The theme of the 2026 edition of Olympic and Paralympic Week is “commitment”—whether as an athlete, volunteer, or fan.
