The 28th edition of the Saint-Barth Film Festival is already drawing to a close. This Saturday, after a morning screening at the Théâtre du Paradis of the documentary dedicated to the artist Lisette Malidor, two films will be offered to the island's spectators from 8pm onwards on the Ajoe plateau in Lorient. A short film that will take them to the waves of Tahiti's Teahupo'o at the time of the 2024 Olympics surfing events, followed by a feature-length film that will plunge them into Argentina in crisis in 2001. As every day, screenings are free and open to the public.

Buenos Aires, November 2001. Argentina is in the grip of a crisis, with the peso plummeting further and further. Julio Färber, the charismatic bandoneonist of the "Vecinos de Pompeya", a working-class tango group of five musicians, is trying to keep his head above water, but his income, both from their concerts and from the traditional shoe store inherited from his father, is dwindling every month. At the very moment when he decides to leave his beloved Buenos Aires for good, it seems that life is working against him: overnight, the government freezes all the country's bank accounts, preventing Julio from buying his plane tickets and triggering violent demonstrations across the city. And Mariela, a witty young woman and spirited cab driver, crashes her car at full speed, damaging Julio's last valuable possession before stealing his heart...
