Saint-Barth -

Salon des artistes unveils its winners

For a month and a half, from June 14 to July 27, the Wall House Territorial Museum organized the third edition of its Salon des artistes. A very special exhibition inspired by the Salon des artistes français created in Paris at the end of the 19th century. The principle of this event, transposed to Saint-Barthélemy, is to invite the island's creators to exhibit one of their works at the museum. Whether it's a painting, a photograph, a drawing (any form of graphic art, in fact) or a sculpture. A few days after the close of the Salon, the verdict of the ballot boxes was announced by the Wall House management. Another special feature of the Salon is that visitors vote for the works they consider to be the most outstanding in each of the three categories.

This year's winners are as follows. In graphic arts, Saize's "Make art not war" was the public's favorite. In photography, Laurie Pottecher won with her shot entitled "L'Arawak". She wins for the second year running. Last but not least, perennial winner in the sculpture category, Dvis Dformes, with a work of art set in the midst of the Olympic Games, "Le big coq français". This is the third time in as many Salons that the artist has been honored by the public.

This year, 47 artists took part in the event. A slightly lower number of participants than last year. A total of 305 visitors voted for their favorites. All that remains now for the island's artists is to prepare for the fourth edition of the Salon. In the hope that the prospect of exhibiting the object of their creative spirit will, even in 2025, stimulate the imagination of Saint-Barth's art-loving residents, from the purest classicism to the most extravagant originality.
