Following the population census carried out in 2023, Saint-Barthélemy will join the group of communes or communities with more than 10,000 inhabitants that apply the annual census survey. From now on, the census will be carried out every year on the island, by sample. This means fewer census-takers, the appointment of a territorial coordinator, a smoother work flow for this annual survey, and the installation of a correspondent to update the localized building register (CoRIL).
In Saint-Barth, data collection will begin on Thursday January 16 and should be completed by Saturday February 22. As of January 16, the enumerator will begin distributing to all addresses concerned, either in the letterbox or by hand, a copy of the questionnaire. or by hand-delivery, the Internet notice containing personal codes (access code and password) and address identifiers (block number, allocated row number, dwelling in the row). The agent will set a preferred date for the reply. If the response is not received in time, the enumerator will contact the household to arrange an appointment to collect the paper questionnaires. The advantage of online data collection is that it eliminates the need for a second visit, with less paper to fill in, easier and quicker response, and preserved confidentiality. The coordinator receives the information in the OMER application, and the enumerator receives a text message indicating that the household has responded.
To connect, all you need to do is enter your Internet address (www.le-recensement-et-moi.fr), enter your login details and answer a few questions. If the household is unable to respond via the Internet, the enumerator will drop off the paper questionnaires (dwelling sheet, individual forms for the number of permanent residents) and give residents instructions on how to fill them in. The enumerator will then come back to collect them, or fill in the questionnaires under the dictation of the inhabitant (elderly people or people with writing difficulties). The enumerator can also complete the questionnaire for the household via the Internet, using his or her own tablet or smartphone.
