Saint-Barth - semaine bleue

Semaine Bleue: the Ehpad opens its doors

Everywhere in France, Semaine Bleue is dedicated to highlighting the role played by older citizens in society. It also aims to foster links between generations. Thousands of activities are organized in every region. Saint-Barthélemy is no exception.
Four events are scheduled for Semaine Bleue on the island. The first will take place on Monday, October 6, at Gustavia's Ehpad (Etablissement d'hébergement pour les personnes dépendantes) Louis Vialenc. Islanders will be able to visit the facility between 3 and 5 p.m. as part of an open house operation.
The aim of the open house is to give families an insight into how the Ehpad operates. "We want it to be a friendly, family-run environment, so that residents feel at home here, and that it is an acceptable substitute for their home," explains Marie Allard, senior health executive. After being welcomed by the care and administrative teams, visitors will be given a presentation of the activities on offer to residents during the holiday season. After being welcomed by the care and administrative teams, visitors will attend a presentation of the activities offered to residents during Semaine Bleue, a theatrical performance, and then meet up with residents for a "cocktail snack".
Throughout the week, both mornings and afternoons, activities and other entertainment will be offered to residents. From hairdressing and manicures to a "friendly brunch", not forgetting the election of the "blue binomial", a "top chef" competition on the theme of childhood cakes, a car ride around the island, and so on. As they do on a daily basis, the Ehpad teams will be bending over backwards to bring well-being to the establishment's residents.
Ehpad Louis Vialenc has 30 rooms. The establishment is usually fully booked, but 27 rooms are currently occupied. For day and night care, activities, outings, meetings with schoolchildren from the islands and associations.
Other events are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. They are open to the general public. See the program below.
