Neighborhood meeting: Vitet and Dévé residents take their turn

This Friday, August 30, at 5 p.m., residents of the Vitet and Dévé neighborhoods have been invited by the Collectivité to meet. The meeting will be held "at the first bridge". The aim of the meeting is to exchange important information about the neighborhood, discuss concerns, formulate ideas and answer questions. questions, there's little doubt that one of the main topics will be the progress of safety work at the entrance to Route de Vitet. Since July 19 and the landslide caused by heavy rains, residents have had to access their homes via the road known as Route des Trois Forces. This road is not only quite deteriorated, but also very narrow. "I'd be curious to know how many rear-view mirrors have been smashed since the closure of the route de Vitet," laughs one local resident.
From what little information JSB has gleaned, it seems that the Collectivité has regained control of the matter. Indeed, since the landslide that damaged the house overhanging the road, the owner (who lives in France) has been responsible for securing the site. As the house, nicknamed "la favela" by its tenants due to their number (between 20 and 25), threatened to collapse onto the public domain, it was up to the owner to ensure that such an eventuality did not occur. However, after a promising start and collaboration with the Collectivité's departments, discussions with the owner no longer seem to be moving the matter forward quickly enough. As a result, the President of the Collectivité has decided to take the necessary steps to secure the site so that the road can be reopened. This will be done within the timeframe announced a few weeks ago, i.e. before the end of September. To achieve this, it may be necessary to demolish part of the house for which the local authority issued a danger order in the days following the landslide. All in all, a matter to be followed. But it will require a little more patience on the part of the residents of Vitet and Dévé.
