Saint-Barth - Marie-Hildegarde Chauveau sous préfet

Marie-Hildegarde Chauveau, the prefect's new chief of staff

The Prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin has a new State representative in Marie-Hildegarde Chauveau. A graduate of the Institut National du Service Public, she currently holds the position of chargé de mission for Vincent Berton, the préfet délégué. In the coming months, however, Marie-Hildegarde Chauveau will be working in the Northern Isles as Berton's Chief of Staff. Her appointment strengthens the cabinet with the presence of a second sous-préfet, in the run-up to the long-awaited creation of a fully-fledged prefecture for Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin. To make her appointment official, Marie-Hildegarde Chauveau represented the Prefect at the ceremony commemorating the November 11th Armistice in Saint-Barthélemy last Monday. A most solemn opening. “There's a lot of work ahead in terms of reorganizing services, recruiting new staff, and a very clear roadmap set out by the Prefect for Saint-Barthélemy,” explains Marie-Hildegarde Chauveau. She refers mainly to actions to combat crime (particularly road crime), addictive behavior, drug trafficking and fraud, and to maintaining an effective partnership with the Collectivité. Not forgetting health issues, of course. I'm looking forward to taking charge of all these issues and getting things done,” says the Chief of Staff. It's an honor to serve on this island.”
