It's now a must-attend back-to-school event. At the very least, for anyone wishing to find out about all the activities offered by the island's associations. At the same time, it's a chance to meet the people behind the associations, without whom Saint-Barthélemy would be no more than a beautiful rock, left to the mercy of luxury tourism. On Saturday September 28, from 4 to 7 pm, the fourth edition of the Forum des associations will take place.
Nearly forty associations will be taking part. Their representatives will take over the forecourts of the Hôtel de la Collectivité territoriale and the Wall House Museum. "All sectors of activity will be present," assures Magali Maxor, the Collectivité's sports coordinator in charge of relations with associations. From sport, of course, to the environment, culture, solidarity, health and art, the majority of organizations will be on hand behind their stalls to welcome visitors, present their activities and explain how to sign up.
To put their money where their mouth is, several associations will be offering demonstrations and introductions to their disciplines throughout the Forum. Visitors will be able to learn about pétanque, archery or try their hand at a few holds on a tatami mat.
"Launching the sporting season
To liven up the event, a refreshment stand will be open, with live music. "A speaker will move from stand to stand to give a voice to the associations and liven things up," adds Magali Maxor. As throughout the year, the coordinator has put a lot of energy into organizing the event. With the invaluable help of Djahina Kancel-Louis, a dedicated 18-year-old assistant who supports Magali Maxor as part of her Bac Pro training. The aim is for people to be able to register with the associations," says the sports coordinator. It's an event we feel strongly about, as it kicks off the sporting season. "
The Forum, which will be attended by many of the island's sports associations, will also benefit from the presence of a representative of the Comité territorial olympique et olympique et olympique.representative of the Comité territorial olympique et sportif and the Délégations régionales académiques à la jeunesse, à l'engagement et aux sports (Drajes).
In addition, as health cannot be overlooked, Dr. Pauline Caudron will be hosting an area devoted to preventive nutrition.
Meanwhile, this Thursday September 26, the Journal de Saint-Barth will be offering its traditional "Dossier des activités culturelles et sportives". This special issue lists all the island's associations, with contact details, activities, registration fees and more. A supplement not to be missed.
