The French Red Cross recruits its future first aid trainers

Fewer than half of French people are trained in life-saving techniques, and in nine out of ten emergency situations, the life of a loved one is at stake. In response to this situation, the Red Cross delegation in Saint-Barthélemy is calling on all motivated people to join its team of first aid trainers. The aim of this initiative is to strengthen the island's first-aid culture and ensure that everyone is ready to act in the event of everyday accidents.
A complete, state-certified training course will be organized in the 1st quarter of 2026. The call is open to anyone aged 18 or over. No previous experience is required, just a desire to learn, share and get involved in community service. Future trainers will be tasked with helping a wide range of people - young people, adults, professionals and private individuals - to acquire the essential gestures: protecting, alerting, intervening, performing cardiac massage and using a defibrillator. As well as a commitment to solidarity, this experience is also an opportunity to develop a number of personal skills, such as public speaking, teaching, self-confidence and teamwork.
