On Friday October 24, the Collectivité published two decrees concerning the fight against noise pollution. They modify the dates established in a previous document in 2024. This text provided for the suspension of certain works between December 15 and January 15 on the island, for the weeks of Thanksgiving and the Bucket Regatta in particular.
The new by-laws reduce this period. The dates are now December 20 to January 5.
The regulations are as follows:
From January 6 to December 19, work is authorized for businesses and private individuals:
Monday to Friday: 7am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm and in school zones: 7am to 12pm and 3pm to 5pm.
Saturday:
- 7am to 12pm (businesses) - except jackhammers, hydraulic breakers and concrete cutters.
- 7am to 12pm and 3pm to 5pm (individuals: DIY and gardening only).
Sundays and public holidays: prohibited (businesses and private individuals).
From December 20 to January 5, for businesses and private individuals:
Monday to Friday: 9am to 12pm and 3pm to 5pm
Saturday:
- Forbidden for businesses (all work including jackhammers, BRHs and concrete cutters)
- Authorized from 9am to 12pm (for private individuals)
(All types of work except jackhammers, BRHs and concrete cutters, which are totally prohibited).
Sundays and public holidays: Prohibited (companies and individuals)
For work requiring the use of jackhammers, hydraulic breakers and concrete cutters:
From December 20 to January 5 : The use of BRHs, pneumatic and electric breakers and concrete cutters is FORBIDDEN.
Outside these periods:
The use of BRHs, pneumatic and electric breakers and concrete cutters is AUTHORIZED:
Monday to Friday :
8am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm
From 8am to 12pm and from 3pm to 5pm (within school grounds - excluding school vacation periods).
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
