Young people looking for an internship, a work-study program, or a fixed-term contract are invited to bring their resumes to meet with recruiters.
Facilitating connections between young people on the island and employers is the goal of the Multiprofessional Economic Chamber (CEM), which is hosting a job fair on Friday, July 24, at the Collectivité pier. Starting at 6:00 p.m., young people can bring their resumes to meet with human resources managers from about fifteen companies. From luxury hotels and hospitals to the fire department, environmental agencies, real estate agencies, banks, construction firms, and sanitation services, many sectors will be represented.
The goal here is not to showcase different careers, as in a career fair, but rather to present job openings to potential candidates. Who is this job fair aimed at? “We’re reaching out to people from all walks of life,” explains Alexia Louis, head of the CEM’s training division. “Those looking for an internship, a summer job, a work-study program, or a fixed-term or permanent contract.”

This job fair will take place at the same time as the graduation ceremony for the island’s graduates. “We thought it made sense to tie in with this event so we could directly connect these recent graduates with companies,” explains Alexia. Young people who haven’t yet graduated are also welcome. The CEM is even organizing a raffle, open only to young people, with three prizes: a flight from Saint Barth to Saint Martin, a flight from Saint Barth to Guadeloupe, and even a flight from Saint Martin to Paris. The CEM plans to use student registration for this raffle to gather information about their educational paths to feed into its youth observatory.
