In Flamands, an action to raise children's awareness of road safety

The late afternoon of Sunday March 23 was a studious one for some children in the Flamands neighborhood. Although they didn't have to brush up on their school lessons, they were nevertheless called upon to take part in an activity organized by the neighborhood referents. In this case, a road safety awareness campaign. For the occasion, referent Alexandra Lédée called on David and Mélissa Dorvilma's driving school.
Gathered under the kiosk on the playground, the participants (mothers and children) were able to ask the road safety professionals many questions.
On potential offences, of course, but also on passing the BSR (brevet de sécurité routière), learning the code and so on. David Dorvilma reminds us: "It's not because parents pay that the child will get the BSR. If we see that he's not mature enough, we don't give it to him. At 14, not all children are ready to drive, be it a scooter or a Twizy. "
Children ask questions. So do the moms. The session ends with some advice and a simulation exercise. Wearing goggles that reproduce the effects of alcohol, fatigue or drugs on their noses, mothers and children try out a few steps. Nothing could be more effective than to show the harmful effects of certain products on the perception of distance, speed and one's own motor skills.
For the driving school instructors, it was also important to remember that children, depending on their age, do not have the same visual or auditory capacity as adults.
A Sunday experience that convinced the neighborhood referents of the value of such initiatives.
