In an online press release, the prefecture of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy indicated that the French civil aviation authority (DGAC) had allowed flights to and from the French West Indies to continue.aviation civile (DGAC) has allowed flights to and from the French West Indies to continue, asking the airlines involved in these routes to plan for a higher fuel load Venezuela.
Four transatlantic routes were cancelled this Saturday morning due to the military attack against Venezuela by the US armed forces. The following flights were unable to depart from Paris:
- Air France 0840 departing from Orly, due to arrive in Fort-de-France at 2.50pm, and AF 0839, due to depart at 5.35pm;
- Air France 0750 from Orly expected at Pointe-à-Pitre at 3.25pm and AF 0751 departing at 6.00pm;
- Air France 0498 from Roissy expected in Sint Maarten at 3:00 pm and AF 0499 departing at 5:10 pm;
- Air France 0446 departing Roissy, expected in Sint Maarten at 5.35pm, and AF 0441 departing at 7.45pm.
The prefecture points out that the French civil aviation authority has limited the blackout zone for French aircraft to Venezuelan airspace only. "French airlines can therefore operate transatlantic air links and regional traffic", the press release states.
As advised in a previous JSB article, travelers are invited to contact their airline to check the status of their flight.
In a press release, Air France explains that it has decided to resume flights to and from Sint Maarten (SXM), Pointe-à-Pitre (PTP) and Fort-de-France (FDF) from the afternoon of Saturday January 3.
