The management of the airline Air Antilles announced on Saturday August 30 that its operating license has been renewed by the Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile. According to the airline's press release, this extension of its authorization to fly is the result of a ministerial order dated yesterday, Saturday August 29. The order has not yet been published in the Journal Officiel. At the same time, confirmation from the Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) is awaited.
The President of the Collectivité de Saint-Martin, Louis Mussington, confirmed the extension of the operating license at a press conference on Saturday. The Collectivité territoriale de Saint-Martin is the company's main shareholder. It has invested over 18 million euros in the relaunch of the operator of the mixed and partial takeover of Air Antilles, at the end of September 2023.
The airline has been operating under a temporary operating license since April 3. This had been extended by the DGAC for an initial two-month period on June 30. "Since resuming operations, the company has carried over 131.000 passengers between the islands of the French West Indies, and intends to continue its development in the Caribbean skies with an excellent punctuality and regularity rate (93%)," states the press release issued on Saturday. The company's management, supported by its shareholders, continues to develop this vital tool for the economy of the territories and for bringing people closer together. Since the resumption of flights, Air Antilles has made a significant contribution to the growth of regional air traffic, as shown by the figures published by the airport hubs in their latest communications. For example, on the Saint Martin Grand Case hub alone, Air Antilles activity has avoided traffic saturation on almost 75% of operating days since August 2024."
