With the peak tourist season just around the corner, the port's management is unveiling a number of new operational and organizational features, mainly concerning the shipping agent and day charter companies, as well as the Comité des pêches et de l'aquaculture (fisheries and aquaculture committee).
First of all, the work to extend the commercial port. Management explains that this work is progressing well, and that the Epi should be commissioned as early as December 1, 2026. The Epi will include a waste sorting facility and a marine station.
The garbage room on the commercial port will be open and accessible 24 hours a day, and will be operational from December 1. This garbage room is reserved exclusively for port users who are or will be moored in the outer harbor, regardless of their situation (year-round and/or transient yachtsmen)", explains the operator. For your information, all boats at anchor will be required to deposit their waste in this area. Only boats at quay or in the dock will be able to deposit their waste in the Quai Général de Gaulle area. "No tolerance will be accepted", stresses port management.
As for the marine fuel station, it will be operational from December 06 and accessible every day of the week, again 24 hours a day. Payments will be made by credit card only (Visa or Master card), says the port management. Fishermen will be able to use their individual cards reserved for the Comité des pêches.
L'Epi will also be home to the new premises of the French National Sea Rescue Society (SNSM). The "Capitaine DANET - SNS 269" launch will be stationed on the beach side of the Epi. The SNSM will have a storage area for its equipment, "which will enable them to respond more quickly, avoiding the traffic jams of Gustavia", insists the port management.

In addition, as previously mentioned (JSB 1639), a speed radar has been installed at the entrance to the port and has already been in operation for over ten days. This radar, although educational for the moment, will enable us from December 1st to penalize speeding," points out Ernest Brin, the port's manager. The speed limit for all vessels in the Gustavia harbor channel is five knots. Here too, I'm asking all boat managers and shipping agents to inform their captains of the existence of this radar. "
Penalties are provided for offenders. These can include temporary exclusion from the port area for several days or even several weeks for visiting boats, a ban on access to the quays for boats with a yearly subscription (commercial charter or pleasure craft), refusal to renew annual contracts, or even the loss of a vessel's berth on a public quay or on a mooring.
The port management and its team remain at your entire disposal for any additional or necessary information you may require," says Ernest Brin. We would also like to remind you that any request to move your boat within the port must be approved by the harbor master's office. "The request must be made by VHF, on channel 12.
