The CTTSB launches its tourism plan

What will tomorrow's tourism look like on Saint Barth? How will the island cope with the ever-increasing influx of visitors? To answer these questions, and many others, the Comité de Tourisme de Saint Barthélemy (CTTSB) is launching a tourism plan. This multi-stage plan will enable it to put in place a comprehensive long-term strategy to enhance the destination and its history.

"The idea is to preserve our success and quality of life, while striking a social balance between the population, seasonal workers and visitors", explained Alexandra Questel, President of the CTTSB, on Tuesday October 28. Everyone will be consulted. Discussions will begin on October 31, with meetings between industry professionals, hoteliers, restaurateurs, villa rental companies, etc., as well as with local residents, at a meeting at the CTTSB on Thursday November 6 at 6pm.

The Protourisme consultancy is in charge of leading the discussions, which will also include elected representatives, the Agence Territoriale de l'Environnement (ATE), the Conseil Économique, Social, Culturel et Environnemental (CESCE), EDF, Paprec...
This first stage - which ends on November 7 - aims to establish a diagnosis. "What do we offer today in terms of tourism? What are the difficulties, what is everyone's willingness to do? "asks Alexandra Questel. A number of issues are on the agenda: managing the growing number of tourists, relieving congestion at the airport, the possible creation of a golf course, as well as environmental and energy issues... The revitalization of the low season, to avoid price rises during the high season, is also on the table. "We could go after customers from Latin America, as our low season corresponds to winter for them," suggests Narcisse Dupré-Paule.

We don't want to produce yet another report," continues the assistant manager of the CTTSB. By gathering all the elements, we hope to be able to implement concrete actions. "The aim is to unite everyone around the project.

Following the diagnosis, a Tourism Conference will be held next May. The CTTSB hopes to be able to propose concrete actions for the future of tourism in Saint Barth by August 2026.
