Hospitality: Le Barthélemy Earns Blue Standard Certification

Oceanic Global, an international nonprofit organization, has awarded its Blue Standard certification to the Barthélemy Hotel and Spa. This is a mark of recognition for the property located on the shores of the Grand-Cul-de-Sac lagoon.
Through Blue Standard, Oceanic Global highlights companies’ concrete commitment to protecting the oceans and reducing their environmental impact. It is also recognized for its fight against “greenwashing,” which is simply a marketing tactic used by certain organizations to project a misleading image of environmental responsibility.
“This certification comes at the end of a process lasting more than a year, followed by a successful audit,” explains Claire Hillau, regional director of sales and marketing for Le Barthélemy, who continues: “Through Blue Standard, Le Barthélemy formalizes and structures several years of initiatives aimed in particular at reducing the use of single-use plastics, improving waste management, promoting more responsible sourcing practices, and raising awareness among our teams and guests about marine conservation. This is an important certification for the hotel and a recognition of the commitment, consistency, and collective efforts of our teams. This milestone holds special significance in Saint-Barthélemy (where the organization is active for the first time), given our exceptional environment and the importance we place on it every day. It aligns with the commitments we have upheld at Le Barthélemy for several years.”
Lea d’Auriol, founder and director of Oceanic Global, states: “Oceanic Global is proud to welcome Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa into its network of ‘Blue Verified’ companies for pioneering the adoption of sustainable best practices within its sector and for demonstrating exemplary responsibility in corporate management. The progress we are making through the ‘Blue Standard’ is made possible when members of our community take concrete action within their own spheres of activity and collaborate on a global scale.”
The Barthélemy holds several labels and other certifications. First and foremost is the Green Globe, which recognizes travel and tourism professionals for their eco-responsible initiatives.
