When the Saint-Barth Yacht Club sailing school sends its young skippers to Sint Maarten, it's not for show. On November 30, at the Budget Marine Optimist organized by the Sint Maarten Yacht Club, Saint-Barth's little sailors stormed the podiums.
In the "big boys" category, Lourenço Couto Jorge won ahead of fellow competitor Tao Carmona Bouvrais, while Lewis Maxor completed the podium. A full house for the three SBYC representatives in the category.
In the benjamins, Stanley Haes took the top step, followed by Léo Favreau and Natanaël Basset. But they were not alone, as Ethan Blanchet climbed to fifth place and Axel Vanden Eynde to seventh.
"It wasn't easy to win," says Stanley Haes, who congratulates the entire SBYC team and extends his warmest thanks to Cindy Brin: "She knows how to push us to the limit, and the results prove it," says Stanley.
Louisa Vanden Eynde put in a fine performance in the green fleet. Although she finished in fifth place, she managed to win the ninth of the eleven heats contested in Sint Maarten. A good omen!
