Sailing: Europa Cup: Lolie Osswald on the podium in Carcans

Lolie Osswald found her form again on Lake Carcans Maubuisson last weekend. During a new stage of the Europa Cup, the resident of the Pôle Espoir Voile de La Rochelle climbed to the third step of the podium behind France's Périnne Milleret and the winner, Ukraine's Sofiia Naumenko. "The weather was a bit complicated," says Lolie. "There wasn't supposed to be any wind, but there was! Since we were on a lake, the wind was very unstable. I'm happy! Even if I cracked at one point." A slight dip that didn't prevent her from taking third place on her Ilca 6 but also from establishing herself as the best in the under-19 category. This represents an excellent performance when you consider that Lolie is only 16 years old. One detail the teenager hadn't noticed before the competition was that the event held on Lake Carcans-Maubuisson was a youth observation regatta, an event similar to the Youth Olympics. Lolie Osswald's strong result last weekend therefore allowed her to showcase her skills at the perfect time.

Furthermore, it's worth noting that an online fundraiser is open on the Leetchi website ("Lolie Osswald Sailing Project Fundraiser") to help Lolie Osswald, who is seeking one or more sponsors, finance part of her travel, registration, and equipment costs. So far, eighteen contributors have raised €1,890. "Every donation, even the smallest, helps me get closer to my dream," the teenager writes.
