Météo France has placed Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy under yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms. In its bulletin for Tuesday September 16, Météo France announced that the arrival of tropical wave no. 26 would lead to a deterioration in the weather, possibly in the evening but more likely during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. The bulletin states: "During the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the wave will bring moderate to heavy showers. The risk of thunderstorms increases. On Wednesday, the showers will be spaced further apart, but will still be of a thundery nature.
Two tropical waves are currently developing in the Atlantic. The closest, number 26, could become a depression or tropical storm in the next few days, according to data published by the National Hurricane Center (USA). The phenomenon should be observed with vigilance. For the time being, it is located more than 1,500 km from the Caribbean arc. The second, much further away, is beginning to cross the Atlantic.
