Following the success of the weekend of May 23–24, during which the club hosted three chess tournaments (a “960,” a team championship, and a blitz tournament), St-Barth Chess is hosting a “Who Loses Wins” tournament this Saturday, June 13, starting at 3 p.m. in the La Capricieuse room at the harbor master’s office. A fun way to approach chess that involves losing on purpose to win the game. Open to everyone, members and non-members alike, young people and adults. Registration required at (+590) 690 55 12 14.
The following day, Sunday, also at the Harbor Master’s Office, the first round of the rapid chess championship will take place, starting at 9 a.m. Players will compete in 3 games of 2x30 minutes each. The second round will take place on Sunday, June 28, with 4 games. Registration at (+590) 690 55 12 14
The afternoon will be dedicated to the team tournament (6 players, including one junior). Starting at 2 p.m., the St. Barth Chess team, composed of Damien Lebrun (captain), Hortense Lebrun (junior), Mickael Régniez, Rémy Seak, Samuel Minville, and Jef Follner, will defend the trophy they won last year against Saint-Martin, 24–12.
St Barth Echecs events are supported by Le Barthélemy, The Rosewood Guanahani, Avis, Tom Food, Ets Lédée, and La Cave du Port Franc.
