Three Caribbean Karaté Oyoma fighters win French Cup

The 33rd French Karate Cup took place on March 15 and 16 in Nice, on the Côte d'Azur. Caribbean Karaté Oyoma sent three of its fighters, accompanied by their coach, Jean-Pierre Crochepierre, the technical director of the Saint-Martin club, Thierry Saint-Auret, and Maki Télémaque. "After just over three years in existence, the Saint-Jean club has returned with satisfactory results," says a delighted Jean-Pierre Crochepierre. Pauline Buffat, a beginner in the senior category, made it all the way to the final, winning a silver medal and the title of vice-champion of France. "After a very tough fight against more experienced opponents, she finished on a high note, even if she didn't win the final", commented the club. In the junior category, Marcel Pilorge is also a beginner. Although he got off to a flying start, he faltered somewhat due to his lack of experience. Nevertheless, he came a remarkable fourth in his very first French Cup. Last but not least, Lihana Meunier-Nouisier, in the minime debutante category, also excelled. Like her friend Marcel, she took fourth place in the competition. The club salutes the "determination" and "surprising courage" she showed in each of her bouts.
These are very encouraging results for the young Caribbean Karaté Oyoma from Saint Barthélemy's first participation in a high-level competition," says the club. We look forward to the next challenges. "Jean-Pierre Crochepierre does not forget to thank the parents of club members for their financial support, as well as his partners (Eden Rock, l'Atelier du Mahogany, l'Atelier d'ébénisterie Gaylor Dessomme, West Indies carrosserie and SAS Almeida charpente.
