The 17th edition of the Saint-Barthélemy Open, organized by the Saint-Barth Tennis Club, came to a close on August 15. Although the event was slightly disrupted by the effects of storm Ernesto, spectators were treated to some spectacular encounters in a convivial atmosphere. For this year's event, the SBTC registered 103 players, in addition to a dozen children who took part in youth tournaments.
In the ladies' category, as in 2021, guest champion Mathilde Lollia (French No. 54) came out on top (7/6- 6/2). In the final, she overcame another SBTC guest, Jenifer Anger (former French 47th), who gave up only after battling bravely in the stifling heat.

The men's final was far less competitive. Mainly due to the outrageous technical and physical domination imposed by the winner, Paul Colin (already a winner in 2022), on his opponent, Sasha Colleu. The latter, despite holding the title, was outclassed from start to finish (6/0 - 6/1).

But there's more to the Saint-Barthélemy Open than just the finals. For two weeks, numerous matches were played on the courts of the Plaine des Jeux de Saint-Jean. From unranked players to the seeds of champions, everyone did their utmost to make it through one or more rounds in their respective draw. In singles, but also in men's doubles and mixed doubles. This last event is unfortunately tending to disappear in France, but the SBTC is taking care to perpetuate it.

The Open was also marked by two mornings of meetings, exchanges and games between the invited champions and the club's youngsters. Once again, the Saint-Barth Tennis Club organizes this event every year to involve all its members and licensees. "This year's event for tennis lovers was once again a great success," says the tournament management, who note the "good mood" and "pleasure" of the participants in this 17th edition.
