Last Saturday (January 31), the Saint Barth Tennis Club women's team hosted the Saint-François club players in the quarterfinals of the Guadeloupe team championship. On paper, the match looked tricky but manageable for the SBTC representatives. On the court, the ladies quickly dispelled any doubts by winning the first three singles matches without breaking a sweat. Lee Sorrentino, Lorenza Guillou, and Aïda Giraud gave their opponents no chance. Three victories in straight sets secured the match for the SBTC, despite two defeats. One in singles, Perrine Rousson was unable to break free from the false rhythm imposed by her opponent in the exchanges. In doubles, Perrine Rousson and Aïda Giraud put up a good fight against opponents who were, on paper, superior. They battled hard, only losing in the super tie-break of the third set, 10 points to 7.
The matches were played in a very friendly atmosphere, with players from both teams sharing smiles and good humor. In fact, the afternoon of play on the Saint-Jean courts, under a blazing sun, ended with a meal at the club's refreshment bar. As for the SBTC ladies, they continue their journey in the competition.
Having qualified for the second division semi-finals, they will play for a place in the final on February 28.
Quarterfinals for the men's team 1
This Saturday, February 7, SBTC Team 1 will host the Ducharmoy club on the courts of the Saint-Jean sports complex. Once again, as with the women, this is a quarterfinal match in the Guadeloupe team championship. Another afternoon of tennis is in store, with four singles matches and two doubles matches. The team will consist of Grégory Thouin, David Ripoche, Valentin Gosselin, and Frédéric Gastaldi. The goal is simple: to do as well as the women's team and qualify for the semifinals of the competition.
