Tennis - Caya Cagan crowned regional team champion

Although she is a member of the Tennis Club de Saint-François in Guadeloupe, it's the heart of Saint-Barthélemy that Caya Cagan (19, ranked 15) keeps beating on regional and French tennis courts. Ten days ago, with her partners from Saint-François, the young player won the regional team championship. To do so, Caya and her comrades defeated the two-time title-holders, also Antilles-Guyane 2024 champions, representing the Petit-Bourg Tie Break club. The girls from Saint-François won by three to one. "Despite the fact that, on paper, we weren't the favourites, as they were all ranked higher than us," enthuses Caya. The former member of the Saint-Barth Tennis club put in a fine performance, winning her match after a marathon 3 hours 40 minutes on a very close scoreline (3-6/6-3/10-5). As a direct consequence of this regional title, Caya Cagan and her Saint-François team will be competing in the Antilles-Guyane championship, May 8-11 in Guadeloupe. They will face the champion teams of Guyana and Martinique, as well as the Guadeloupe runners-up.
