Saint-Barth - Voile Tangaroa

Tangaroa Takes Third Place at the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta

Divided into eight categories, the 44 yachts competing in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta (April 15–20)—including Alain Charlot’s Tangaroa from Saint Barth (Modern B class)—faced four days of grueling sailing in challenging conditions, with winds consistently between 20 and 25 knots throughout the week. “A demanding course that highlighted the boat’s sturdiness and our crew’s cohesion,” notes Alain Charlot.
The results of the four races reflect a week of close competition. In the Modern B class, with four first-place finishes, Robbie Ferron’s Bunglebird took the top spot on the podium, followed by Katina and Tangaroa. In its first appearance at this legendary event, Tangaroa—with Alain Charlot, Bertrand Charneau, Sam Ghisani, Patrick Bernier, Didier Cadillon, and Patrice de Maistre on board—rose to the challenge with panache. “On board, we had a remarkable alliance of sailors from two well-known yachts in the waters of Saint Barthélemy: Aronnax and Speedy Nemo,” explains Tangaroa’s owner. “A combination of experience and talent that quickly found its footing to lead Tangaroa to victory. Beyond the result, this performance celebrates the commitment and passion of a united crew and marks a significant milestone for Saint Barth’s presence on the scene of major Caribbean classic regattas.”
