A great surfing program awaits surf enthusiasts this weekend in Lorient. The Ajoe Reefer Surf Club, in partnership with Imperial Moto Coffee, is organizing several events on Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8, including a competition counting towards the Guadeloupe championship.
In fact, five surfers from the butterfly island are expected to take to the waters of Lorient. At least five others will come from Saint-Martin to test themselves against the local waves and the island's surfers.
On Saturday morning, an event will be reserved for the island's children, who won't have to miss their usual morning lessons with Ajoe educators. In the afternoon, a competition will bring together youngsters from Saint-Barth, Saint-Martin and Guadeloupe for the championship, in all age categories. Waves permitting, there will also be open categories.
On Sunday, Ajoe will continue with the Open events which, all going well, began the day before. The Lédée brothers, Thomas and Noé, Dimitri Ouvré, Johann Androt, Jonas Brin and Mario Lédée are expected to take part in the men's competition. In the women's category, champion Tessa Thyssen is expected to attend, but a minor physical problem will prevent her from taking part. For Nina Reynal, with a shoulder injury, the situation remains uncertain. But there's little doubt that other surfers from the island and Saint-Martin will be there to put on a good show. Hoping, of course, that the waves will be there.
Should this not be the case, Ajoe has already scheduled a tandem event and an air show.
Registration is open until Friday evening on the Surfing France website. A link to the registration forms can be found on the Ajoe Reefer Surf Club Facebook page.
