In competition, performing well is important, regardless of the sport. But for young athletes, who are still learning, the most important thing is to cultivate enjoyment, joy, and a spirit of solidarity. This is something that the coaches at the Ajoe Reefer Surf Club always keep in mind. So it's hardly surprising that the young representatives of the club who traveled to Guadeloupe last weekend to compete in the first stage of the Ti Moun Tour shone not only on the waves but also on the beach, with their smiles and their unity. "All the children encouraged and supported each other and gave their all in the water and on the beach," says president David Blanchard. "A great spirit and real group cohesion." With great results to boot.

Although the waves were small at the Port-Louis site (north of Grande-Terre), they proved ideal for the children. "Everyone was able to express themselves and have fun," said David Blanchard. In fact, the Ajoe had the satisfaction of seeing six of its twelve young Reefers reach the finals in their categories. Special mention goes to Kezia Tayalé, who won the under-12 event. "She won her final in the last three seconds, at the buzzer, by changing boards in the middle of the series," said David Blanchard. "It was a real mental and strategic performance." Also noteworthy was the victory of Kajik Ruffie-Mignot in the under-8 event. But all twelve young Reefers were flawless and committed. In fact, the coaches are full of praise for their young riders. "Coaches Matthieu Granier and Dimitri Ouvré are very proud of this group, which shows great promise for the rest of the Ti Moun Tour," insists the club president.
On Sunday, the children, coaches, and accompanying parents (Mélanie Mozer and Lucas Ruffie-Mignot) were able to enjoy a few moments of relaxation at a waterfall. The next stage of the Ti Moun Tour will take place at the Bananier spot in Basse-Terre.
