Surfing - Preston Gréaux and Louka Giraud show their mettle at the Open de France espoir

Fourth place for Preston Gréaux and seventh for Louka Giraud. The two minimes from Ajoe Reefer Surf Club didn't make the trip to Anglet (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) for nothing.
Entering the competition in the very first round, Preston Gréaux went through the competition with serenity. He came second in his first two heats, won the third and finished second again in the semi-finals. Unfortunately for him, he was unable to outclass his opponents in the final series. Satisfying though.
For Louka Giraud, this year's French Open will doubtless have a more bitter taste. Entering the competition in the second round, he dominated his series to qualify. But in the third round, he fell just short. His score was 8.33, while the first qualifier, Tristan Staetz, beat him with 8.63. Third in this series, Louka came to a premature end. But the boys weren't the only representatives of Saint-Barthélemy in Anglet.

Disappointment for Célia Magras
Among the girls, Célia Magras was due to compete in the junior category. But the weather played a nasty trick on her. Due to a severe lack of swell, the junior event was cancelled by the organizers. I'm a bit disappointed because it was an opportunity to qualify for the ISA (International Surfing Association) with the French team," Célia regrets. Especially as it meant I could train for the French championships in October. "To get back on track, the Ajoe Reefer Surf Club member will take part in the Junior Pro in Razo, Spain, at the end of September.
