Saint-Barth - Thomass et NOé Lédée surf

Surfing - The Lédée brothers prepare their tour

Sons of surfers, Thomas and Noé Lédée grew up between sea and waves. While their father took part in the Transat AG2R (in 2002 with Luc Poupon, 17th), they have chosen a different path for the time being: that of professional surfing. The Transat has intrigued me for years, and I'd love to be able to combine my passion for the sea with surfing and sailing,” confides Thomas. I think one day I might try my hand at a transatlantic regatta.” For Noé, sailing remains an adventure that he admires, without wanting to devote himself to it: “I'm better on a board, I leave that to my father!”

In 2024, Noé experienced an athlete's worst nightmare: injury. “You either give up, or you hang in there,” he explains. He chose to fight, with rigor and patience. The result: a comeback marked by his best ranking. Thomas, for his part, had to pull out of a competition because of a shoulder injury, a frustration that has forced him to listen more closely to his body from now on.

Top-level training

Today, the two brothers are aiming for the European top 10, synonymous with entry into the world's top 100. “That's our goal, to reach the highest spheres of surfing”, they assure us. To achieve this, they rely on a demanding coaching team, like one of their coaches from Trinidad and Tobago. In June, they head to Brazil to train at the prestigious Aprimore Surf Camp, which they love. “Over there, we found a method that really helped us progress,” they recount.

Competitions and a busy summer

After a stopover in Monaco for the Formula 1 Grand Prix with their sponsor Imperial Moto, then the training camp, it's time for action: Lacanau, England, Spain... Their summer will be punctuated by the “Qualification Series WSL” (World Surf League) circuit. Three intense months, with a clear objective: to get closer to the world's elite.

Feet in the water, hearts on the island

Proud of their roots, Thomas and Noé never forget where they come from. “We represent France, but we're still West Indians in France,” says Thomas. Noé confirms: “If we could carry the flag of Saint-Barth in competition, we would!” Although they have already surfed in Tahiti, Morocco or Hawaii, their wave dreams are not exhausted. Indonesia, Mexico and Fiji are on their bucket list. “Wild atolls in the middle of the ocean are paradise,” says Thomas. And Noé adds: “Home is still my favorite spot.
