From the youngest to the oldest, surfing enthusiasts are out and about this weekend in Lorient. Today, Saturday, and tomorrow, Sunday, February 22, the Ajoe Reefer Surf Club is organizing the Junior Territorial Open as well as an Open competition with the Guadeloupe league. The Imperial Moto, named after the event's main sponsor, is open to surfers aged 12 and over. Shortboard, longboard, bodyboard—every category should be represented. Surfers from Saint Martin and Guadeloupe are on hand to take on the waves of Lorient.
The children's competition began on Saturday at 9 a.m. and is scheduled to last until 5 p.m. On Sunday, the men's shortboard Open will begin at 9 a.m. For longboard, surfers will enter the water at 11 a.m. For the women, the competition is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 1 p.m. for both shortboard and longboard. The finals will be held immediately afterward.
Alongside the competition, entertainment will be provided for spectators and participants around the surf hut on Lorient beach. On Saturday, to keep the party going after the events, several DJs and musicians will be spinning the decks. DJ HETR from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Matt E Love from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Bitin Brass Band from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and finally, the group Omawav will entertain the audience into the night, from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
A food court will be available on site, serving paella and drinks.
