Saint-Barth - Rugby Touch

Success of the Rugby Touch tournament

At the Saint Jean stadium, the Barracudas Touch Rugby section, called Poissons-Clowns, held its annual Touch Rugby tournament last Saturday. Six teams competed: two Poissons-Clowns teams and a women's team from the "Rascasses" represented Saint-Barthélemy. Add to this field the formidable Archivés from Archiball de Saint-Martin, as well as the Mille-Pattes from RC le Moule, and finally the Molokoïs team from Good-Luck Gosier.

As a reminder, Touch Rugby is a fun, non-contact game of rugby, suitable for all ages and played in mixed teams of five male and female players. Alongside all the other categories, there is a Touch Rugby championship organized by the Guadeloupe Rugby League, and within this calendar, the Poissons-Clowns tournament has become a must-see for this type of rugby in our archipelago. And while the sporting aspect is important, it is above all the atmosphere and conviviality that take precedence in this category, which is primarily focused on leisure. For the sporting portion of the tournament, the Poissons-Clowns of Saint-Barth won at home, finishing ahead of their neighbors from Saint-Martin, the Archivés. But be aware that for the festive portion and the third half, the Touch Rugby sections have nothing to envy from the senior women's and men's teams, and Saturday night's third half in Saint-Jean proved it once again!

And with a perfectly organized team, this 2025 edition of the Clownfish tournament was once again a success, as Fred Bischoff, head of the Touch Rugby section at the Barracudas club, recalls: "As the section's representative, I am extremely proud of the work accomplished by my teammates and volunteers, because it was no foregone conclusion to have a successful tournament, both on and off the field. From a sporting perspective, we came second in the first edition in 2023, and we wanted to leave the section's name on the trophy. That's it. At the club, we are very happy with the result and the way the tournament went. We didn't have as many teams as we would have liked, but we will strive to do better next time." Among the teams present were the Molokois, from Gosier. One of the team's key players, Emmanuelle Boulais, had a wonderful time at this tournament, as always. "On behalf of the entire team, a huge thank you for the Clownfish's always warm welcome! We had a blast, and some sore muscles, competing against these great teams. We'll be back with pleasure to once again celebrate this wonderful sporting friendship that unites us."

The same feeling goes for Marina Gateaux from Le Moule, who highlights the sporting challenge and the friendly aspect of the tournament, experienced by her team, the Mille-Pattes, who came from Le Moule: "It was a pure weekend, both humanly and rugby-wise. We really had a blast, from the mini-plane flight to the accommodation center being
