Last Sunday, Saint-Barth Echecs organized the 2nd edition of the backgammon championship in the main hall of the harbor master's office. The first games and the hard-fought quarter-finals were played to 3 points. The final came down to 5 points between Serge Belhassen and Emeric Ladroue. Both players made judicious use of the doubling cube to stay neck and neck until Serge Belhassen won (5-4). For 3rd place, the suspense was even more unbearable between Josephine Carillon and Nicolas Brousses. At 4-4, Josephine was very close to the finish line, but a double 3 allowed Nicolas to beat her to the post! Saint Barth Echecs would like to thank its partners: Avis, l'Auberge de la Petite Anse, Fabienne Miot, Spa Sisley, la Cave du Port Franc, le Cellier, Christophe de l'Esprit and la Carambole.
The next Saint-Barth Echecs event will take place on June 14 and 15. Two of the club's teams will take part in the Association Internationale des Echecs Francophones international tournament against African and Canadian teams.
