Saint-Barth present at the BDO Half Marathon ILTT

The third edition of the BDO Half Marathon ILTT, organized by the Country Club Port de Plaisance, took place on Sunday, May 4th, in ideal conditions, attracting 300 participants from Saint Martin, Sint Maarten, as well as the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Saint Barth, and other countries. Runners were divided into four categories: Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10 kilometers, and two walking courses (7.5 and 5 km).

Over the 21.1 kilometer half marathon, whose course was designed around the Simpson Bay lagoon, Gabriel Pertusot (SXM Tri Academie) was the first to cross the finish line in 1:23:54, followed by Gautier Mathieu de Fossy (SXtreme Runner – 1:24) while Gregory Pigeon (SXM Tri Academie) finished in 1:25:15.

Among the athletes from Saint-Barth who made the trip were 12 members of the 4Running St Barth club. Mathieu Peressoni (4Running St Barth) took the 3rd step of the podium in his category (M+40 years) with a time of 1:34:01, as did Manon Poillion (4Running St Barth) who took the second step of the podium in the women's category (18-39) with a time of 1:58:03. Vincent Gaffiot (4Running St Barth) emphasized that "this half marathon is a first experience for several members of the club who found in the group the courage to successfully complete a longer distance. After a 6am start, the temperature quickly rose with the arrival of the sun, but the good atmosphere and the friendly organization of the St Maarten Road Runners motivated everyone to finish as best they could."

Jean-Marie Gréaux (Polo) was also competing in the half-marathon. He covered the 21.1 kilometers in 2:15:31. "I've done this very well-organized race several times. It's a very beautiful course with some difficulties from the tenth kilometer onwards."
