Saint-Barth jiu-jitsu crowned second Caribbean club for children

Out of four children registered, four left with medals. A fruitful trip for the Saint-Barth Jiu-jitsu club. This Saturday, November 2, the Saint-Jean club went to Guadeloupe to participate in the second edition of the Caribbean Open. A competition organized at the Palais des Sports du Gosier by the French Confederation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CFJJB), whose president David Giorsetti was also present. "National-level referees traveled for the competition," emphasizes Nicolas Harmange, technical director of the club. For most of the Saint-Barth Jiu-jitsu competitors, participating in an event of this magnitude was a first. The athletes faced athletes from Guadeloupe, Martinique, Sint-Marteen and even Paris. "The level in the Antilles is improving," describes Nicolas Harmange. Despite this high level, the Saint-Barth athletes stood out on the mats. The adults left with four silver medals and three bronze medals in the GI category (with kimono). In the NO GI category (without kimono), three members made it to second place on the podium. On the children's side, the four competitors won three gold medals and one silver medal. Thanks to this high number of victories, Saint-Barth Jiu-Jitsu ranks second among the best clubs in the children's competition. Next year, the club is already planning to repeat the experience with more competitors. But before that, the athletes are preparing for another event, a competition on their own turf: the Saint-Barth Open which will take place next March at the Dojo de Saint-Jean.
