Women's rugby: Entente des îles du Nord spring a surprise against Bruc

Rascasses from Saint Barth and Archigirls from Saint Martin, in the Entente îles du Nord, defeated Guadeloupe runners-up Bruc in style (27 - 15).

The rugbywomen of the Iles du Nord gave a wonderful gift to the fans of rugby on our two islands last Saturday. On the Palais Royal field in Les Abymes, the Entente des îles du Nord women's rugby team beat a Bruc team that had been predicted to be the favorites in this match for the senior women's X championship. In a fine collective effort, the players of Saint-Barth coach Fabien Maurel played their best rugby of the season. Their success was rewarded by 4 tries from the unstoppable Célyne Galibert, not to mention a goal from Fanny Kremer. As captain Alice Gatelier explains: "We scored early in the match, which gave us confidence and the desire to give it our all from the start.... it's important for us, as we're used to taking a bit of time to get into games. We managed to find our rhythm as the match wore on, and all the players outdid themselves and put their qualities to the service of the team. It was a hard-fought game! In the end, we changed our way of playing a little and that worked out well for us. Now we have to keep on working if we want to claim another victory. "The team's coach, Fabien Maurel, is also very satisfied with his team's state of mind and the game they produced: "We worked hard with the girls and they understood that they could do great things. It's a pleasure because there's the victory and the content was pleasing, with phases of play and well-constructed actions. We finally put into practice what we've been working on in training, and it paid off! "The clubs, Barracudas and Archiball, have given themselves the means to obtain results for their women's team in the Entente île du Nord, and this successful match is the mark of this shared desire. Archiball president Rachel Masi emphasizes: "I knew they weren't going to come to Le Bruc for nothing! I was confident, because I could see the tenacity and motivation of the girls during training. And I knew it would pay off. This victory bodes well for the rest of their adventure. "An adventure that will continue on March 29, in Saint Martin, for the second leg of the Entente îles du Nord - Bruc des Abymes women's championship match.
