Rugby: No easy trip for the Barracudas against the

The Saint-Barth Barracudas team will have their work cut out for them this Saturday in Les Abymes, where they will face the Bruc Greens, the reigning vice-champions. This is an important match in terms of the final stages for both teams, which have had the same start to the season, with one defeat and one victory to their credit. This third match of the season could be crucial in the final standings of the Elite XV regular championship. This is emphasized by Barracudas fullback and coach Romain Viriato: "It's a tricky away game because Les Abymiens are usually tough to beat at home. The team that loses on Saturday will have much less chance of playing a potential semifinal at home, in front of their fans, at the end of the season." The Barracudas squad, which has been significantly rejuvenated and reshuffled during the offseason, will therefore rely on its mobility and speed, a formula that enabled them to win at RC Goyave last November. "We're traveling with our strongest players for what could be a turning point in the season. It's a match we don't want to miss!" adds scorer Viriato, for whom this match always has a special flavor, having won everything with Bruc before winning everything with the Barracudas a few seasons later. He confesses: "It's always special to play against your old club, but the teams have changed a lot since I left Bruc, and I hardly know any of their players anymore [laughs]." This "Viriatoico" clash on the fourth day of the Elite XV rugby championship, Bruc vs. Barracudas, kicks off at 7 p.m. this Saturday at the Valentin Claire complex in Palais Royal, Les Abymes.
