Saint-Barth -

De la programmation 2020 de la fête du jumelage avec Piteå, il ne restera que la 29e Gustavialoppet avec ses courses de 5 et 10 kilomètres et la Foulée des Ti Mouns.

Piteå Day: registration now open!

The time is fast approaching to celebrate the twinning between Saint-Barthélemy and the small Swedish town of Piteå. This year, Piteå Day and its many events will take place from November 8 to 10. The cultural, sporting and festive program promises to be packed. As a result, future participants need to get organized now in order to take part in events that require prior registration.
This applies in particular to the Walk for All and the Gustavialoppet races, which will take place on the morning of Sunday November 10. For both the walk and the 5 and 10 kilometer races, participants must register at the reception desk of the Hôtel de la Collectivité, at La Pointe, between November 4 and 8. Runners must provide a medical certificate valid for less than a year stating that they are not contraindicated to competitive running. Alternatively, they can present a license from the French Athletics Federation (FFA): the FFA offers the Parcours de Prévention Santé (PPS), a four-step tool for raising awareness of the risks, precautions and recommendations relating to runners' health.
The process is simple and free online (https://pps.athle.fr/). At the end of the process, you can download a certificate to give to the organizers of your next race.
Children wishing to take part in the Foulée des Ti Mouns on Saturday November 9 can also register at the Collectivité reception desk from November 6 to 8. T-shirts will be issued on registration.

A Nordic course!
As mentioned above, other events are also on the Piteå Day program. These include a Nordic music, dance and singing workshop led by music teacher Ombeline Collin and the Swedish quartet Femti Fem, guests of the event. The four-day course begins on Saturday, November 2, from 3 to 6 pm. Another session will take place the following day, Sunday, then on Wednesday 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday 9 from 9 a.m. to noon. To take part, registration is required. Phone (0690320818) or e-mail (omviolinsbh@gmail.com).

Another cultural event for which registration is essential is a free workshop for children (aged 5 to 10) organized by the Saint-Barth Héritage association, to be held on Sunday November 10 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Maison suédoise, in the Gustaf III space beneath the Gustavia lighthouse. The idea, which has been in place since last year, is to offer fun content for children to give them a glimpse of Swedish culture," explains Lisa Béronius-Magras. To do this, we use seminal works of children's literature to tackle major themes. Last year, for example, we tackled the question of the place of children in our society, with a particular focus on the place of girls. To this end, we read extracts from Astrid Lindgren's Fifi Brindacier. This year, we'll be offering a reading of Emil i Lönneberga (Zozo la Tornade in French) by the same author. "The readings will be accompanied by workshops. These will include, for example, the making of a small musical instrument: the mirliton (or kazoo). The idea is to spend a convivial moment over a snack of Swedish specialties. To book, send an e-mail to: contact@stbarth-heritage.org

The full Piteå Day program will be published in our next edition, on the eve of the event. Twinning commemorations have been organized by the Association Saint-Barth des amis de la Suède (Asbas) and the local authority since 1978.
