Pétanque Three teams qualify for French championships

Since January 25, the Comité des Îles du Nord has been organizing the qualifying rounds for the French Petanque Championships. This year, two men's (adult) teams from Saint-Barthélemy managed to secure their ticket to the national competitions in two categories. In the senior men's triplet, a team comprising Benjamin Couet, Jean-Michel Tzanis and Romain Guigou qualified brilliantly for the French championships to be held on June 21 and 22 in Pontorson (Manche). In men's doubles, Tony Gomez and Hassan Bouazzaoui will also represent the Northern Isles at the "France" championships to be held in Millau (Aveyron) on August 30 and 31.

Finally, last weekend marked the end of the qualifying rounds for the cadet selection (12-14 years), the result of an agreement between Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. The team that came out on top at the Plaine des Jeux de Saint-Jean is as follows: Ethan Aubin, Célian Daviaud and Étienne Legac. They will defend the colors of the Northern Isles in the cadet triplet category at the national championship to be held in Saint-Yrieix (Charente) on July 12 and 13.
The youth team includes Ethan Aubin, Célian Daviaud and Étienne Legac.
It should be noted that this will be the second consecutive participation for these young players. Ethan and Célian had already worn the colors of the minimes selection in 2023, while Étienne had been selected for the minimes in 2024.
