With the goal of reviving the spirit of relaxation, camaraderie, and simplicity that has long defined beach volleyball on the island, as well as making this gathering an annual event—with the aim of inviting even more Caribbean islands to participate in the future— the Ouanalao Beach Volley sports association is organizing an inter-island beach volleyball tournament on March 21 and 22 at the Saint-Jean sports field. This event will bring together teams from Saint Martin, Sint Maarten, Saint Kitts, and of course local teams, in a spirit of both competition and camaraderie. The participation of top-level players from various clubs promises a great sporting spectacle. “Usually, the association’s players travel to neighboring islands to participate in tournaments,” the organizers note. “This time, we wanted to welcome the teams ‘at home’ so they can experience beach volleyball in Saint-Barth and share in the local atmosphere.”
The organizers are also offering a belote tournament on Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m., as well as a musical evening with DJ Toubax starting at 8:00 p.m. Refreshments and food available on site.
On the schedule:
Saturday, March 21
• 7 a.m.–7 p.m.: Beach Volleyball Tournament
• 1:30 p.m.: Registration for the belote tournament. Starts at 2 p.m.
• 7:00 PM: Music night until midnight with DJ Toubax
Sunday, March 22
• Matches resume starting at 7 a.m.
• Finals starting at 1:00 PM
